One Risen King and Savior and Sovereign Lord! Mark 10:41-45

41 When the ten heard about this, they became indignant with James and John. 42 Jesus called them together and said, “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. 43 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 44 and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. 45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

James and John requested from Jesus that they would sit one on His right and the other on his left side in Jesus' glory. A request that sprung out of a fleshly worldly man centered mind set. There is no place of promoting self in Jesus' glory and Kingdom. But that we repent and promote Christ in our life that He be glorified in me everyday that I have breath.

The natural tendency for us is to promote self and seek our own sense of worth by how we compare ourselves to others. But we are to measure our sense of self worth by how we empty our self before the throne of Grace and let the Holy Spirit fill us with His presence and life.

In the man centered thinking, we also tend toward wanting to rule over others, control them and tell them what to do for a sense of power and authority. However, In God centered thinking, we are to be humble and servant of all. There is only one Sovereign Lord, Risen King who sits on His throne of glory. We are to serve Him, by how well we serve others for His glory. We are to dethrone self and allow Christ to rule the reigns of our heart and in so doing we are to look to build up others and help them in time of need. For in doing so, I realize my sense of self worth is found in Christ, and Christ rule is promoted in me knowing He is Lord of all and I could never be a substitute to my Sovereign Lord and King Jesus. But that He was my Substitute and in His Blood I am delivered and cleansed and in His resurrection I have new life to serve Him and glorify Him in my life.
